5 Things Guys Should Not Sport to the Gym

Be honest.
One of the biggest motivations for us college girls to get to the gym every day is the thought of all the hot guys that will be there. Yeah, we go there to burn off last night’s margaritas and nachos, but doing all that burning is so much better while ogling delicious, muscle-y coeds lifting weights, the sweat dripping off of their glistening brows.
But then there are the other guys. Those dudes that show up in attire that makes us want to throw up last night’s indulgences rather than jump their bones right up against the leg press.  Everyone knows that the bar gym is a great place to pick up guys, but these five fashion choices are definite dealbreakers.
Guys, no matter how hot you are, you don’t look good in these.
1. Spandex
I don’t care what kind of exercise you’re doing, spandex is NEVER necessary. This goes for outside the gym, too.  There’s nothing like seeing a guy jogging around campus and having a clear outline of his junk to wake you up for a 9 am lecture.  Spare me.  If you’re lucky, we’ll wanna see your man parts after a few drinks at more appropriate times (that is, unless we remember that we saw you at the gym wearing spandex).
2. Sleeveless Muscle Tees
Unless you’re Pauly D or The Situation, don’t wear muscle tees. They make you look like Pauly D and The Situation. We get it, you have huge biceps, and trust us, we love to watch you flex them. But not in an old t-shirt you tore up with arm holes that hang down to your waist. If we can see your entire upper body already, what’s the point of wearing a shirt anyway? And while we’re on the subject, let’s just make these illegal, K?
3. Short Shorts
Short shorts on girls? Fine. Short shorts on guys? Gross. Guy thighs are big, pale, and hairy – a very unattractive combo.  And trust me when I say I did not need to see that guy’s junk flop out onto the mat during a particularly intense butterfly stretch.

Peyton Manning And The Fleeting Nature of Sports Excellence

The city of Indianapolis has enjoyed a decade of excellence. The Indianapolis Colts have put together an unprecedented 10 years of superior football. To one degree or another, so too have Boston and Pittsburgh. In years past Dallas, San Francisco and Pittsburgh (again) were also the beneficiaries of a prolonged period of excellence from their respective NFL franchises.
In other major league team sports there have been franchises which managed to play at the highest level of their particular sport  for extended periods: the Boston Celtics, LA Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and of course the Chicago Bulls in basketball. In baseball various teams have produced long runs at or near the top of their leagues – LA Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers and almost perennially, the NY Yankees among others.
I don’t follow the NHL, but I’m sure the same applies to some of their franchises.
In the case of the Colts, I won’t argue regarding which of the teams mentioned above during the past decade has been better. While the Colts have more regular season wins during the last decade than any other NFL team, their postseason record is rather lackluster. The obvious winner in that regard would be the Patriots with the Steelers running a close second.
The point, though, is when looking over the breadth of American major league team sports, the franchises which have performed at the highest level for an extended period of time are relatively few. It is a luxury.

The fall from grace is usually a hard one. Most sports franchises can look back and point to one or more “glory year” periods (excepting perhaps the Detroit Lions, who have never been glorious in the Super Bowl Era). However, the level of play for most teams before and after those ‘up’ years was, more often than not, mediocre at best, and at times dreadful.

If you happen to be one of them, then you know exactly the demands of this sports, which may include chasing a loose ball, shooting the ball accurately, and trying to stop a fast and aggressive player.
Such demands require not just good physical condition but also right kind of practice. So, in order to play like a pro, one must be fit, practice more, and follow the following sports tips.
Improve your ball handling. Simple running and improved cardio capacity are not enough to make you handle the ball better. You need to practice ball handling drills over and over to be a top-flight ball handler. Here’s one important drill for you: stand at one end of the court while holding one basketball in each hand. Then start walking forward toward the opposite baseline. While doing this, you need to bounce the ball in your right hand first, then your left hand second. Continue doing this and when you feel more comfortable doing the drill, try to fashion down the court faster. You’ll see, in no time you’ll be able to bounce both balls with equal skills while sprinting down the floor.
Shoot the ball accurately. Focus on your form when shooting. But how to do it? Well, this is where muscle memory comes in. If you keep doing the same form when practicing, chances are you’ll get more used to it until shooting with the right form becomes more natural for you. Remember – “Shooters are made – not born.” So, practice shooting with the right form more.

Listening Music: Zero, by the Smashing Pumpkins. I knew I wanted to feature the pumpkins today, I just didn’t know what song. I sifted through maybe twenty or thirty songs. I thought about featuring Cherub Rock, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Today, and The Everlasting Gaze, among others. 1979 was out of the question — it feels like too much like Sesame Street to me. Survivability consists of healing, anti-damage oriented spells (e.g. Power Word: Shield) and defensive cooldowns (e.g. Pain Suppression). Every healing class has many options of each. Certain spells which fill the same role are usually better at that role, depending on the class you play. Lifebloom, for instance, is generally thought to be a better HoT than Renew. This, of course, is because the restoration druid is supposed to have a lot of effective HoTs which encourage damage softening, preventative healing, and psychic powers (or whatever you want to call it). Certain healers are more adept at certain aspects in WoW, that’s just how the game is played.
Defensive cooldowns are used for specific situations. Blessing Hand of Protection is great against physical damage but does nothing to stop great balls of fire. Lots of defensive cooldowns can be used in many different ways. Although Hand of Freedom is used frequently on offense, to help your melee teammate get to an opponent (and therefore would be considered utility), a paladin can also use it on a teammate to prevent a Shatter combo from a frost mage.
Survivability is the measure of how well you keep your team alive.
Conservation
Conservation is a two sided coin: how well you conserve your mana and your defensive cooldowns. Some classes are naturally better at keeping mana bars high — holy paladins are regarded as the kings of rarely going out-of-mana in arena. Innervate, Hymn of Hope, Divine Plea, Mana Tide Totem (pretty bad compared to the others, don’t you think?), and other mana returning cooldowns help to keep your mana high and your teammates out of trouble. Use them wisely.
The other half of conservation is being wise with your defensive cooldowns.
If you’re forced to use them early, you or your team is not conserving your mana very well, and this forces you to not conserve your important mana-up cooldowns very well either. Sometimes, burning mana returning cooldowns early is smart. If you know it’s going to be an incredibly long game where the healer who goes oom first loses, it might be a smart strategy to use your cooldowns early in order to have them up sooner in the future (just as long as you don’t go over your maximum mana bar and ‘overheal’ mana). Using an Innervate and only getting half the benefit due to overmana is just bad.
Defensive cooldowns are situation based. Pain Suppression is easy to understand when to use. If someone is low on your team, you pop it and you’ll prevent your teammate from dying. Hopefully your teammate has a full row of buffs on him and there is no offensive dispeller on the opposing team. Other cooldowns, like Divine Shield, are much more difficult to correctly determine. Do you bubble in order to prevent a Counterspell? Do you bubble at 40%, 20%, or otherwise? Can you use any other abilities before bubbling?
If you completely smoked the enemy team, you might say “and we didn’t even need to use Nature’s Swiftness” (or something like it). This shows that your team played well and allowed you to conserve an important defensive cooldown…or the enemy team didn’t use their defensive cooldowns and died in a few globals. Either way, you got a win and it was a strong one.

Of course, I’m classlexic, so maybe I shouldn’t be complaining that much. I’ve probably called enemy healers ‘the priest’ more often than their correct class. People who play with me get used to it, just like I get used to them asking for dispels on Devouring Plague (sigh). Tangent over.

Listening Music: Zero, by the Smashing Pumpkins. I knew I wanted to feature the pumpkins today, I just didn’t know what song. I sifted through maybe twenty or thirty songs. I thought about featuring Cherub Rock, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Today, and The Everlasting Gaze, among others. 1979 was out of the question — it feels like too much like Sesame Street to me. In the end, it came down to Zero or Eye. I wanted to feature the Ghost in the Shell video of Eye (NSFW), but it’s got a little cartoon nudity in it, so that’s why we’re going with Zero today.

There are three fundamental marks of an amazing healer in any bracket (we’ll talk about which ones are of greater importance in different brackets later — but for now, discussing and working on all areas of play is best).

Survivability consists of healing, anti-damage oriented spells (e.g. Power Word: Shield) and defensive cooldowns (e.g. Pain Suppression). Every healing class has many options of each. Certain spells which fill the same role are usually better at that role, depending on the class you play. Lifebloom, for instance, is generally thought to be a better HoT than Renew. This, of course, is because the restoration druid is supposed to have a lot of effective HoTs which encourage damage softening, preventative healing, and psychic powers (or whatever you want to call it). Sports Practice – Week 2

This is just gonna be another post without any pictures. Well, i’m pretty busy with all the school works, meetings and all, so there wouldn’t be many interesting things with pictures. Unless I bring me phone to school! >:) – Which is most likely impossible..
Moving on, today’s the second week of sports practice, and today, we did long jump. Personally, this is my favourite activity. ;D Form 3’s were the last to go, and form 1’s was first. Unfair, they get so many tries that they used up almost all the time. -_- Oh well, I still get the chance to compete with my friend by all means. (:
My first jump, I jumped too hard that I literally flew out of the sand pit and to the other side. Slight injured on my knees lol. At least that marks the furthest spot made. Then, it was yuven’s turn again, and if i’m not mistaken, he won me back. -_- At last, I beat him and that made me the furthest jumper for my entire house. ;] and HAH! In your face YUVEN! lol
That’s about all for today, reached home superbly late as last week. Luckily, there was no homework for today. :D

Sports Help Save Children

The children in Uganda lead incredibly difficult lives. Schools were closed during the civil conflict in northern Uganda, and many people were put in displacement camps. Schools are finally beginning to reopen and there is renewed hope for the Ugandan people. In this brutal war, many of the children have been abducted and made to fight. Helping these children have at least a semi-normal life is challenging but worthwhile.
“These children have had their lives torn apart,” stated Edwin Odur-Luru, a physcologist. He went on to say, “The kind of help they need at the moment is psycho-social support to help them reintegrate into the community and into their family lives.” This is easier said than done, but many people are working extremely hard to help both the children and adults. They are discovering sports could be the answer to building a better future.
Sports are very popular to the people of northern Uganda because they give struggling people something to look forward to each day.  Playing and watching sports makes them smile.
Through missions supported by UNICEF, sports like football, basketball and volleyball are being promoted among Ugandans in at least 50 different schools! These schools are primarily based in the Lira District. Sports programs have been implemented to help the children get their lives on track and get them to stay in school and get an education. Sports have had a profound impact on Samuel, a young child in northern Uganda.  He stated that sports have helped him to stay out of trouble, think positive and do well in school.
Both children and adults are determined to put the past behind them and focus on performing well in sports.  Unfortunately, the love of sports is often exploited by criminals.  Children have been abducted because they go with strangers who promise to make them professional soccer players.  In other cases, “agents” promise to make the children pros for a fee and then steal the community’s money.
NBA idol Steve Nash has helped organize a charity, Football for Good, for the children in northern Uganda. Nash hopes that this will help the children produce a sense of hope for the future. The charity opened up the Centre for Sport and Rehabilitation in northern Uganda in the city of Gulu. Nash founded this charity with Adrian Bradbury, who is the director for Toronto-based Athletes for Africa.
Athletes for Africa was the organization that created the Gulu Walk in 2005.  This annual walk draws worldwide attention to the children and is symbolic because many children walk nearly 20 kilometers every night to avoid being abducted.
Football for Good will help the children find a safe place and feature sports programs as well as art programs and counseling services. Nash stated, “I started this foundation because I really felt the need to try to help people. As a professional athlete, you are in a position and given the opportunity to really have an impact on more than just your immediate surroundings. For me to be able to do that is something that is sometimes challenging, but always worthwhile”.
The organization also hopes it will increase the confidence for the children in northern Uganda and help make their communities better. Every child deserves to have the opportunity to do the things that any other person in the world can. Making the kids safe and happy again is the goal of this program and everyone else who tries to help the situation in Uganda. The people living in Uganda may be struggling to maintain a safe, healthy and happy society, but with the help of sports and these new organziations, Ugandans will be able to eventually restore peace.
