<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">How to Cut Costs and Find Cheap Winter Sports Insurance</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Many consumers pay more than they need to for travel insurance. This often happens with skiers and snowboarders who want maximum protection for the added risks that their holiday may bring. It is, of course, important to make sure that any policy gives comprehensive coverage for this kind of trip. But, this doesn’t mean that savings can’t be made.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">There are a variety of ways of cutting the costs of winter sports insurance. These include:</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Taking a higher excess: Travel insurance features usually come with an excess amount that has to be paid by the insured party before the insurer starts to pay out. Raising the excess on a policy can lower its costs.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Targeting features and benefits: Some elements of a ski and snowboarding insurance policy may be essential (i.e. full medical coverage) but others may not be needed by every individual. Looking at policies in detail to identify issues that are actually needed rather than blanket coverage may work out cheaper.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Looking at multi-trip or annual policies: Buying a single trip travel insurance policy may work out to be more expensive than buying an annual or multi-trip option. Those who will take more than one holiday a year may find it cheaper to take this route. Do, however, make sure that any annual or multi-trip policy will cover all applicable winter sports and general holidays at the same time.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Considering family or group policies: Those traveling as a family or as part of a skiing or snowboarding group may find it cheaper to take out family or group insurance. A family policy may well insure children under a certain age free. A group policy may give free insurance “places” or discounts depending on the number of people in the group which can also save money.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Shopping around for cheap policies: Once an individual knows what they need from a winter sports insurance package it is relatively easy to shop around to find the lowest possible costs. Using an online comparison site such as an insurance supermarket may be a useful way of saving money.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Using any/all of these solutions could help cut the costs of ski or snowboarding insurance.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Things to Remember Before Looking for Low Cost Ski or Snowboarding Insurance</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Cutting corners on winter sports travel insurance to save money is probably not the best of ideas. Extremely cheap policies may look attractive from a cost point of view but the savings made may be a false economy. Ending up without adequate coverage if an accident or incident does happen could potentially cost a lot more in the long run.</div>

Yeah, we go there to burn off last night’s margaritas and nachos, but doing all that burning is so much better while ogling delicious, muscle-y coeds lifting weights, the sweat dripping off of their glistening brows.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">But then there are the other guys. Those dudes that show up in attire that makes us want to throw up last night’s indulgences rather than jump their bones right up against the leg press.  Everyone knows that the bar gym is a great place to pick up guys, but these five fashion choices are definite dealbreakers.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Guys, no matter how hot you are, you don’t look good in these.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">1. Spandex</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">I don’t care what kind of exercise you’re doing, spandex is NEVER necessary. This goes for outside the gym, too.  There’s nothing like seeing a guy jogging around campus and having a clear outline of his junk to wake you up for a 9 am lecture.  Spare me.  If you’re lucky, we’ll wanna see your man parts after a few drinks at more appropriate times (that is, unless we remember that we saw you at the gym wearing spandex).</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">2. Sleeveless Muscle Tees</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Unless you’re Pauly D or The Situation, don’t wear muscle tees. They make you look like Pauly D and The Situation. We get it, you have huge biceps, and trust us, we love to watch you flex them. But not in an old t-shirt you tore up with arm holes that hang down to your waist. If we can see your entire upper body already, what’s the point of wearing a shirt anyway? And while we’re on the subject, let’s just make these illegal, K?</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">3. Short Shorts</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Short shorts on girls? Fine. Short shorts on guys? Gross. Guy thighs are big, pale, and hairy – a very unattractive combo.  And trust me when I say I did not need to see that guy’s junk flop out onto the mat during a particularly intense butterfly stretch.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">4. Velour Sweatpants</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">If you wear these to the gym you are probably also sporting #2, a fake tan, and a blowout (and maybe even a sweatband around said blowout. And sunglasses).  I always see guys wearing these in colors like maroon, teal, and white. Forget the fact that we can see the outline of your man parts, but WTF? Did you get lost at Macy’s and end up at Juicy Couture?</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">5. Anything one-piece</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Like this. Or these. Come on now; do I really need to say it?</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">On the flip-side, though, one thing guys should wear MORE of to the gym: deodorant. Please and thank you.</div>

The Indianapolis Colts have put together an unprecedented 10 years of superior football. To one degree or another, so too have Boston and Pittsburgh. In years past Dallas, San Francisco and Pittsburgh (again) were also the beneficiaries of a prolonged period of excellence from their respective NFL franchises.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">In other major league team sports there have been franchises which managed to play at the highest level of their particular sport  for extended periods: the Boston Celtics, LA Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and of course the Chicago Bulls in basketball. In baseball various teams have produced long runs at or near the top of their leagues &#8211; LA Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers and almost perennially, the NY Yankees among others.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">I don&#8217;t follow the NHL, but I&#8217;m sure the same applies to some of their franchises.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">In the case of the Colts, I won&#8217;t argue regarding which of the teams mentioned above during the past decade has been better. While the Colts have more regular season wins during the last decade than any other NFL team, their postseason record is rather lackluster. The obvious winner in that regard would be the Patriots with the Steelers running a close second.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">The point, though, is when looking over the breadth of American major league team sports, the franchises which have performed at the highest level for an extended period of time are relatively few. It is a luxury.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">NFL fans in Indy, Boston, and Pittsburgh have lived high over much of the past decade having understandably high expectations of their teams come each September. More often than not, they haven&#8217;t been disappointed.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">The fall from grace is usually a hard one. Most sports franchises can look back and point to one or more &#8220;glory year&#8221; periods (excepting perhaps the Detroit Lions, who have never been glorious in the Super Bowl Era). However, the level of play for most teams before and after those &#8216;up&#8217; years was, more often than not, mediocre at best, and at times dreadful.</div>

But if others play it just for fun, there are some who play it professionally, thus they need to become more competitive.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">If you happen to be one of them, then you know exactly the demands of this sports, which may include chasing a loose ball, shooting the ball accurately, and trying to stop a fast and aggressive player.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Such demands require not just good physical condition but also right kind of practice. So, in order to play like a pro, one must be fit, practice more, and follow the following sports tips.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Improve your ball handling. Simple running and improved cardio capacity are not enough to make you handle the ball better. You need to practice ball handling drills over and over to be a top-flight ball handler. Here’s one important drill for you: stand at one end of the court while holding one basketball in each hand. Then start walking forward toward the opposite baseline. While doing this, you need to bounce the ball in your right hand first, then your left hand second. Continue doing this and when you feel more comfortable doing the drill, try to fashion down the court faster. You’ll see, in no time you’ll be able to bounce both balls with equal skills while sprinting down the floor.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Shoot the ball accurately. Focus on your form when shooting. But how to do it? Well, this is where muscle memory comes in. If you keep doing the same form when practicing, chances are you’ll get more used to it until shooting with the right form becomes more natural for you. Remember – “Shooters are made – not born.” So, practice shooting with the right form more.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Being a basketball player is not limited to knowing the basic knowledge of playing the game. It should be beyond – like to be able to handle the ball better and shoot accurately. To find more sports tips and guide, browse through www.cupkid.com.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">The author has more sports tips on his site at www.cupkid.com. Within the same site are some basketball tips, wrestling guide and much more.</div>

I wanted to feature the Ghost in the Shell video of Eye (NSFW), but it&#8217;s got a little cartoon nudity in it, so that&#8217;s why we&#8217;re going with Zero today.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Last Week: Part III of our beginner&#8217;s arena guide. We discussed very basic arena strategy for many popular specs of each class. Last week&#8217;s column is pretty long &#8212; about twice the length of a normal Blood Sport article. Check it out if you have the time; it&#8217;ll set a good foundation for today&#8217;s subject.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">This Week: We&#8217;ll be talking about the qualities of a skilled arena healer. Full article after the break!</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">There are three fundamental marks of an amazing healer in any bracket (we&#8217;ll talk about which ones are of greater importance in different brackets later &#8212; but for now, discussing and working on all areas of play is best).</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Survivability</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Conservation</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Utility</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Survivability</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Survivability consists of healing, anti-damage oriented spells (e.g. Power Word: Shield) and defensive cooldowns (e.g. Pain Suppression). Every healing class has many options of each. Certain spells which fill the same role are usually better at that role, depending on the class you play. Lifebloom, for instance, is generally thought to be a better HoT than Renew. This, of course, is because the restoration druid is supposed to have a lot of effective HoTs which encourage damage softening, preventative healing, and psychic powers (or whatever you want to call it). Certain healers are more adept at certain aspects in WoW, that&#8217;s just how the game is played.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Defensive cooldowns are used for specific situations. Blessing Hand of Protection is great against physical damage but does nothing to stop great balls of fire. Lots of defensive cooldowns can be used in many different ways. Although Hand of Freedom is used frequently on offense, to help your melee teammate get to an opponent (and therefore would be considered utility), a paladin can also use it on a teammate to prevent a Shatter combo from a frost mage.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Survivability is the measure of how well you keep your team alive.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Conservation</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Conservation is a two sided coin: how well you conserve your mana and your defensive cooldowns. Some classes are naturally better at keeping mana bars high &#8212; holy paladins are regarded as the kings of rarely going out-of-mana in arena. Innervate, Hymn of Hope, Divine Plea, Mana Tide Totem (pretty bad compared to the others, don&#8217;t you think?), and other mana returning cooldowns help to keep your mana high and your teammates out of trouble. Use them wisely.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">The other half of conservation is being wise with your defensive cooldowns.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">If you&#8217;re forced to use them early, you or your team is not conserving your mana very well, and this forces you to not conserve your important mana-up cooldowns very well either. Sometimes, burning mana returning cooldowns early is smart. If you know it&#8217;s going to be an incredibly long game where the healer who goes oom first loses, it might be a smart strategy to use your cooldowns early in order to have them up sooner in the future (just as long as you don&#8217;t go over your maximum mana bar and &#8216;overheal&#8217; mana). Using an Innervate and only getting half the benefit due to overmana is just bad.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Defensive cooldowns are situation based. Pain Suppression is easy to understand when to use. If someone is low on your team, you pop it and you&#8217;ll prevent your teammate from dying. Hopefully your teammate has a full row of buffs on him and there is no offensive dispeller on the opposing team. Other cooldowns, like Divine Shield, are much more difficult to correctly determine. Do you bubble in order to prevent a Counterspell? Do you bubble at 40%, 20%, or otherwise? Can you use any other abilities before bubbling?</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">If you completely smoked the enemy team, you might say &#8220;and we didn&#8217;t even need to use Nature&#8217;s Swiftness&#8221; (or something like it). This shows that your team played well and allowed you to conserve an important defensive cooldown&#8230;or the enemy team didn&#8217;t use their defensive cooldowns and died in a few globals. Either way, you got a win and it was a strong one.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Conservation is the measure of how well you keep your mana bar high, and how often your defensive cooldowns are available.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Utility</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Utility is that everything-else quality that healers bring to the table. It can be something like Aura Mastery, which is just unbelievable for a heavy spellcasting team. It can be additional damage like a Lava Bursting resto shaman. It can be healer crowd control (which is the coolest kind) in Cyclone or Psychic Scream. &#8220;Dispels&#8221; also fall into this category. Yeah, it&#8217;s a big category.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Tangent: I hate when people say that a druid just dispelled a curse. It&#8217;s a decurse. Call it a decurse. We don&#8217;t dispel poisons, we Cure or Abolish them. I&#8217;ve heard people say depoison. I&#8217;m cool with that, I guess. Call it something other than a dispel.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Of course, I&#8217;m classlexic, so maybe I shouldn&#8217;t be complaining that much. I&#8217;ve probably called enemy healers &#8216;the priest&#8217; more often than their correct class. People who play with me get used to it, just like I get used to them asking for dispels on Devouring Plague (sigh). Tangent over.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Most new healers will focus on only one or two out of these fundamentals. You might have been paired up with a restoration druid that Cyclones and Entangling Roots the enemy team every chance he gets, but subsequently everyone on your team is at very low health because he should be healing at some of those times instead. I played with a restoration druid just recently that cast Cyclone on the enemy healer while our hunter teammate was clinging to his life at 20% health for over five seconds. He died. We lost. We laughed about it afterward (with him, not at him).</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">If the restoration druid had a full game, he would have been playing less offensively when we were clearly behind.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Utility is the ability to think like a teammate and not a heal-bot. It consists of being able to damage, CC, remove debuffs, and provide the most you can do to help your team win the game at hand. It requires a good &#8216;big picture&#8217; mentality, which we&#8217;ll get into later.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Next Week&#8230;</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">I originally planned on discussing both DPS and differences in 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5. We&#8217;ll probably go over DPS next week, and the brackets (all in one week) the week after that. Then, positioning &#8212; complete with MS Paint skills. These beginner articles are much more fun to write than I originally thought they would be. Hopefully you&#8217;re all having fun reading them!</div>
<p>Listening Music: Zero, by the Smashing Pumpkins. I knew I wanted to feature the pumpkins today, I just didn&#8217;t know what song. I sifted through maybe twenty or thirty songs. <p>There are three fundamental marks of an amazing healer in any bracket (we&#8217;ll talk about which ones are of greater importance in different brackets later &#8212; but for now, discussing and working on all areas of play is best).</p>

Personally, this is my favourite activity. ;D Form 3&#8217;s were the last to go, and form 1&#8217;s was first. Unfair, they get so many tries that they used up almost all the time. -_- Oh well, I still get the chance to compete with my friend by all means. (:</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">My first jump, I jumped too hard that I literally flew out of the sand pit and to the other side. Slight injured on my knees lol. At least that marks the furthest spot made. Then, it was yuven&#8217;s turn again, and if i&#8217;m not mistaken, he won me back. -_- At last, I beat him and that made me the furthest jumper for my entire house. ;] and HAH! In your face YUVEN! lol</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">That&#8217;s about all for today, reached home superbly late as last week. Luckily, there was no homework for today. <img src='http://www.striatumsports.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </div>

Schools were closed during the civil conflict in northern Uganda, and many people were put in displacement camps. Schools are finally beginning to reopen and there is renewed hope for the Ugandan people. In this brutal war, many of the children have been abducted and made to fight. Helping these children have at least a semi-normal life is challenging but worthwhile.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">“These children have had their lives torn apart,” stated Edwin Odur-Luru, a physcologist. He went on to say, “The kind of help they need at the moment is psycho-social support to help them reintegrate into the community and into their family lives.” This is easier said than done, but many people are working extremely hard to help both the children and adults. They are discovering sports could be the answer to building a better future.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Sports are very popular to the people of northern Uganda because they give struggling people something to look forward to each day.  Playing and watching sports makes them smile.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Through missions supported by UNICEF, sports like football, basketball and volleyball are being promoted among Ugandans in at least 50 different schools! These schools are primarily based in the Lira District. Sports programs have been implemented to help the children get their lives on track and get them to stay in school and get an education. Sports have had a profound impact on Samuel, a young child in northern Uganda.  He stated that sports have helped him to stay out of trouble, think positive and do well in school.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Both children and adults are determined to put the past behind them and focus on performing well in sports.  Unfortunately, the love of sports is often exploited by criminals.  Children have been abducted because they go with strangers who promise to make them professional soccer players.  In other cases, &#8220;agents&#8221; promise to make the children pros for a fee and then steal the community’s money.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">NBA idol Steve Nash has helped organize a charity, Football for Good, for the children in northern Uganda. Nash hopes that this will help the children produce a sense of hope for the future. The charity opened up the Centre for Sport and Rehabilitation in northern Uganda in the city of Gulu. Nash founded this charity with Adrian Bradbury, who is the director for Toronto-based Athletes for Africa.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Athletes for Africa was the organization that created the Gulu Walk in 2005.  This annual walk draws worldwide attention to the children and is symbolic because many children walk nearly 20 kilometers every night to avoid being abducted.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Football for Good will help the children find a safe place and feature sports programs as well as art programs and counseling services. Nash stated, &#8220;I started this foundation because I really felt the need to try to help people. As a professional athlete, you are in a position and given the opportunity to really have an impact on more than just your immediate surroundings. For me to be able to do that is something that is sometimes challenging, but always worthwhile”.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">The organization also hopes it will increase the confidence for the children in northern Uganda and help make their communities better. Every child deserves to have the opportunity to do the things that any other person in the world can. Making the kids safe and happy again is the goal of this program and everyone else who tries to help the situation in Uganda. The people living in Uganda may be struggling to maintain a safe, healthy and happy society, but with the help of sports and these new organziations, Ugandans will be able to eventually restore peace.</div>
